Green Roots

At Summit Hygiene, we understand our responsibility towards the environment and are committed to reducing our carbon footprint while delivering first rate service to our valued customers. That's why we're excited to introduce Green Roots, our initiative aimed at making a positive impact on the planet while ensuring efficiency and reliability in our operations.

We have carefully considered our impact on the environment, and as a result, have implemented a delivery optimisation strategy that not only reduces carbon emissions but also minimises driver fatigue. By using GPS technology and route optimisation tools, we can ensure that our drivers spend less time on the road while maximising the number of deliveries made each day.

Waste Reducing Products

Single Sheet Dispensers

L-One
dispensers reduce waste with single-sheet dispensing, lowering paper use and maintenance time. They protect paper from contamination, ensuring only the sheet in use is touched. Compact, durable, and ideal for high-traffic areas, they pair with eco-certified EcoNatural paper for quality and sustainability.

SmartOne
dispensers are built for durability with a secure lock to prevent theft. They reduce paper use by up to 40% through single-sheet dispensing. With high capacity for less maintenance, they ensure availability while minimizing contamination. SmartOne is also carbon-neutral, fully compensating for its environmental impact.

Zero Waste Dispensers

North Shore
dispensers ensure 100% roll usage with open-sheet presentation to reduce overuse and waste. The lockable feature prevents theft, while the open sheet presentation reduces overuse and spoilage. Additionally, the products are engineered for fast breakdown in water, contributing to environmental sustainability and cost savings.

Katrin
dispensers promote efficiency with high-absorption hand towels and foam soap that reduce usage and maintenance. Fully recyclable, they support the circular economy and minimize environmental impact. Katrin's production uses 100% of the wood, 90% renewable energy, and 93% of side streams are repurposed. Over 99% of water used is sustainably sourced.

Ozoklenz Chemical Free – Aqueous Ozone

Ozoklenz is an ozone cleaning system that harnesses the power of Earth’s elements to help clean up our world naturally. The ozoklenz wall-mounted planet-friendly ozone cleaning machine produces aqueous ozone – a powerful natural oxidising agent. It does this by applying a high voltage to oxygen to create ozone then injecting it into mains water to produce aqueous ozone. The resulting ozoklenz solution – the aqueous ozone – kills viruses, germs, bacteria, and a host of other contaminants, on contact. It’s stronger than bleach but is planet- friendly, safe and wholly sustainable. As the bigger of the two units, the Eco 1 produces up to 11ltrs of solution per minute.

Soluclean

By using Soluclean, you save more than just money—experience up to 99% reduction in weight, 70% less packaging, and 90% CO2 savings. The system also offers 96% more storage space, and 60% savings compared to traditional Ready To Use products. Soluclean eliminates waste through its water-soluble sachets, which dissolve entirely into a biodegradable cleaning solution, including the film. In a world overwhelmed by plastic, Soluclean stands out by using 100% recycled plastic bottles that are designed for repeated use. The lightweight outer packs and sachets not only save shelf space but also lessen environmental impact. With one sachet making one trigger bottle of cleaning solution, the process is as simple as fill, add, shake, and go—making it a practical choice for both your budget and the planet.

Hyclenz Continuous Sack System - 70% less plastic.

The Hyclenz Bin, equipped with a unique "endless" bag system, offers an efficient solution for waste removal. This system simplifies waste sorting by using colour-coded refills, including a biodegradable option for liquid waste. It optimises waste collection and management in both small spaces and larger environments, where waste management is a significant cost factor.

The Flex version of the Hyclenz Bin features height-adjustable legs, making it suitable for placement under worktops, such as in industrial kitchens. This design helps collect organic or unsorted waste without taking up valuable space. The continuous bag system maximises waste containment, with one meter of continuous bag equating to five traditional bags. Traditional bags are often discarded when only half full and without compacting the waste. The continuous bag removes air during closing, and the system is closed from the outside, reducing direct contact with waste and minimising bacterial exposure.

Summit Hygiene Reuse Packaging

At Summit Hygiene, we're committed to reducing waste and promoting sustainability in every aspect of our operations. One of the ways we do this is by reusing cardboard boxes for our own packaging needs. Instead of discarding the boxes we receive from suppliers, we repurpose them to ship our products. This simple yet effective practice not only minimizes waste but also reduces the demand for new packaging materials, conserving resources and lowering our carbon footprint.

Industry Updates: Workplace Recycling is Changing in England! Are You Ready?

Starting March 31st, 2025, new waste legislation will come into effect in England that significantly impacts how businesses handle their waste. Under this legislation, any business with more than ten full-time employees will be required to separate recyclable materials from general waste before collection. This includes "recycling relevant waste" such as dry recyclables—like paper, cardboard, plastics, and metals—as well as food waste. The goal of this legislation is to increase recycling rates and reduce the volume of waste sent to landfills, which aligns with broader environmental goals to mitigate climate change and promote sustainable waste management.

Businesses that fail to comply with these new regulations could face substantial fines. This highlights the importance of understanding and preparing for these changes well in advance. For companies, this may mean implementing new waste management processes, training staff on proper waste separation, and possibly investing in additional waste bins or other infrastructure. While the legislation poses a challenge, it also offers an opportunity for businesses to enhance their sustainability practices, reduce their environmental impact, and potentially even cut costs in the long run by minimizing waste. This change represents a significant step forward in England’s commitment to environmental stewardship and the promotion of a circular economy.
