A deep clean makes all the difference when it comes to floor care. But there’s a right way to do it, and it starts with stripping back, not piling on.
Whether you’re looking after school halls, hospital corridors, or office spaces, following the correct process means your floors stay protected, presentable, and easier to maintain long-term. Here's your step-by-step guide to getting it right.
1️⃣ Strip the floor first
Before anything else, remove what’s already on the surface. That means stripping back any existing layers of polish or seal — not adding more on top. If you skip this step, you’ll end up trapping dirt between layers, making the floor look dull and grubby over time.
Use Aona Floor Polish Stripper, an alkaline-based formula, with a strip machine to break down and lift off those old layers properly. This gives you a clean slate to work with.
💡 Tip: Always use fresh equipment if possible — a clean floor polish applicator ensures no old residue gets transferred.
2️⃣ Rinse and clean thoroughly
Once stripped, it’s crucial to rinse away any leftover product or debris. Don’t move onto polishing until the floor is fully clean and free from residue — otherwise, you risk sealing in grime or creating an uneven finish.
Use clean water and a mop or scrubber dryer to ensure the surface is spotless before you continue.
3️⃣ Polish for protection
Now the floor’s clean, it’s time to protect it. A good polish doesn’t just add shine, it helps your floor withstand high footfall and makes day-to-day cleaning easier.
Apply Aona Wet Look Floor Polish using a clean floor polish applicator. It's suitable for most hard floors, but avoid using it on cork or stone surfaces, as they’re porous and can absorb the polish unevenly.
Worried it’ll be slippery? You’re not alone, but it’s a common misconception. When kept clean, Aona polish is not slippery at all. In fact, it improves appearance and safety by preventing wear and tear.
💡 We recommend applying up to three coats for maximum protection (just like nail polish - building in layers gives the best result.)
4️⃣ Maintain it regularly
To keep that freshly polished look, regular maintenance is key. Use Aona Floor Maintainer, a pH-neutral cleaner that’s safe for all hard floor surfaces.
It helps to keep your floors looking fresh and extends the life of the polish layer, saving you time and effort in the long run.
Final thoughts
Floor care doesn't need to be complicated, but it does need to be done properly. Stripping before polishing, using the right products, and maintaining regularly all play a role in keeping your floors in top condition.
